Hochgebirgsklinik Davos
The Hochgebirgsklinik Davos (hgk – high mountain clinic Davos) has 200 beds and outpatient treatment facilities in four departments for Adult Pneumology and Allergology, Adult Dermatology and Allergology, Adult Cardiology as well as the Allergy Clinic – Center for Children and Adolescents.
SIAF Davos
The Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF), as part of the Foundation of the Swiss Research Institute (SFI), is an internationally recognized research institution in the field of allergy and asthma.
The scientific focus of the SIAF is on the immunopathological mechanisms involved in the development of allergies, atopic inflammation affecting skin and lungs, structural characteristics of allergens and possible ways of developing tolerance. The SIAF enjoys cooperation with Zurich University and together they form the Swiss centre of excellence in the European Union programme “Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN)”.

Universitätsklinikum Bonn – University Hospital Bonn – clinic and polyclinic for dermatology and allergology: department Allergology
In the clinic and polyclinic for dermatology and allergology at the University of Bonn, 2’200 patients are treated each year within the context of an inpatient or day-patient hospital stay, as well as approximately 15’000 outpatients. Diagnosis and treatment proceed according to the latest scientific findings and involve diverse interdisciplinary treatment concepts. The range of services includes all dermatological and allergological illness patterns.
The functional area of allergology is a reference centre, and as a centre of excellence for clinical allergy care it covers the whole spectrum of allergological illnesses with its allergological university outpatient clinic and inpatient care, as part of the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network. In addition to standard allergy testing (epicutaneous and prick testing), special physical test methods, provocation and avoidance testing, are also conducted. It offers both the established immunotherapy and new immunotherapy methods, applied in the study clinic.
There is a particular focus is on special consultations for the care of patients with severe atopic dermatitis (eczema), chronic urticaria, and rare illnesses, such as hereditary angioedema and cutaneous mastocytosis. Within the framework of the Bonn allergy centre, there is a close interdisciplinary collaboration with paediatrics, throat, nose, and ear medicine, as well as with the pulmological clinic.

Klinikum Augsburg
The Klinikum Augsburg, as a tertiary care hospital, offers almost all medical specialties under one roof for the citizens in the city, the district of Augsburg and the entire administrative region of “Schwaben” (approx. two million people). More than 70,000 patients are treated each year in the hospital’s inpatient unit. Thus, Augsburg offers for the Institute of Environmental Medicine an unique opportunity for multidisciplinary, translational research.
Currently, employees of the UNIKA-T are working in laboratories of the ZAUM as well as in cooperation with the Department of Dermatology and Allergology and the Helmholtz Zentrum München. The institute’s lab is currently under construction on the campus of the Klinikum Augsburg. Beginning of 2016 the translocation is planned.

With 75 beds on four wards and around 20.000 outpatient consultations a year, the scientific and clinical work focuses on inflammatory and allergic skin diseases, especially atopic eczema (neurodermatitis), urticaria, anaphylaxis, food and drug allergies as well as diagnostics and allergen-specific immune therapy. The clinic is one of eight “neurodermatitis academies” in Germany and integrated into the National Genome Research Network (NGFN) and several national and international research projects.

Ostschweizer Kinderspital / Children’s Hospital of Eastern Switzerland
The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Switzerland St. Gallen (OKS), is a tertiary medical centre of paediatrics, paediatric surgery, and adolescent medicine for Eastern Switzerland. Funding is provided by an endowment, which is in turn funded by the cantons of St. Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Appenzell Innerrhoden, and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Over 75 doctors care for patients, ranging from premature babies to adolescents, from seriously injured accident patients and children with cancer, to eating disorders, using state of the art and best available materials and techniques. The inpatient areas include general paediatric departments as well as the departments of neonatology, intensive care medicine, and haemato-oncology.
All paediatric medical disciplines and medical subspecialties are represented at OKS: allergology, dermatology, diabetology, endocrinology, developmental paediatrics, gastroenterology, gynaecology, cardiology, haematology/oncology, infectious disease, adolescent medicine, neonatology and intensive care, nephrology, paediatric neurology, rehabilitation, emergency medicine, but also paediatric orthopaedics and paediatric surgery, being the main areas of focus. The interdisciplinary emergency department cares for patients around the clock; at certain time periods an emergency paediatric practice supplements the registered paediatricians.
The training of paediatricians is a central objective of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Switzerland; alongside the university clinics, it stands among the Swiss A clinics with the highest level of training accreditation (category 4 years).
Children with allergic illnesses are treated as outpatients and, where necessary, given inpatient care, befitting from the close cooperation of allergology with related subspecialties, such as paediatric pulmonology, gastroenterology, or dermatology.

At the University Children’s Clinic Zurich, via the provision of a neurodermatitis clinic for children and adolescents, there is an allergy research centre that works closely with Hochgebirgsklinik Davos and the SIAF.
University Hospital of Zurich – Allergy Unit
Allergic illnesses, such as atopic dermatitis, urticaria, hay fever, asthma, and food allergies, are currently steadily increasing. As a diagnostic and treatment centre, the University Hospital of Zurich allergy unit has been significantly contributing for years now to the detection of allergies, where possible to their prevention, and to treating them in keeping with patient needs customized in accordance with the most modern and proven procedures. It specializes in diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic allergic illnesses, with a particular focus on respiratory and skin allergies, food allergies and intolerances, as well as over-sensitiveness reactions to medicines. In addition, consultations are available for rare illnesses, such as hereditary and other angiooedema, as well as mastocytosis and occupational skin illnesses.
